Teleconference and Student Recipe Blog

This activity is a 2-day lesson incorporating telecommunication technology like Google Hangouts and blogging platforms to reinforce the key aspects of how culture and geography influence food. After using Google Hangouts to ask a real chef questions about how culture is significant to Mexican cuisine, students will translate their own home recipes, or one found online, to Spanish and then post these recipes on the class recipe blog for the world to see. Then, students will compare their recipes to those of other students internationally who are also creating food blogs for the traditional cuisine of their country. The teacher will use ePals to connect with teachers around the Spanish-Speaking world and involve them in the activity. See below for a traditional lesson plan layout and a worksheet layout also explaining the activity.
